autumn look #27

The last look of todays trilogy is held casual with earthy shades and a loose silhouette. The sweater by Isabel Marant combines the contrasting idea of grungy basics, like a camouflage sweater, with glamourous materials. Combined with matching accessories the look is easy and elegant at the same time.

The second look for today is more girlish and held in black and grey with red highlights. The short skirt  and the black shoes by Saint Laurent look a bit like the elegant version of a school uniform. I combined it here with a grey top by Marc by Marc Jacobs. With its exaggerated bow it emphasizes the playfulness of the look.

One of this season trends was the 60s silhouette which occurred in several collections with mini skirts, high boots and the typical A-line silhouette. I have chosen for todays style inspiration an ice-blue leather dress by Gucci with a beaded contrast collar. And as in my opinion every proper '60s inspired look needs some boots, here they come with a lot of bling. Therefore the other accessories are held more simple.

autumn treats - chocolate-cheese cake swirls

October is my cake baking month with birthday and names day cakes for friends, work and family. So I experimented here with a brownie recipe with cheesecake topping and some berry flavors. The outcome is a chocolate cake with cheese cake swirls and lingonberry topping.

If you think this sounds delicious, that's all you need:
100g dark chocolate
60g butter
50g sugar
60g flour
1tsp baking powder
3 eggs
pinch of salt
ricotta
vanilla pod

berries or berry jam
here I used 4 tsp lingonberry jam

1. Melt the chocolate together with the butter until smooth.
2. Beat the sugar with two eggs until slightly foamy.
3. mix flour, salt and baking powder together, then sift it into the egg mix.
4. Fill into a baking tray or several small ones
5. Mix ricotta together with the extracted vanilla and one egg.
6. Cover the chocolate dough with splashes of the cheese mix and swirl with a fork.
7. Add splashes of lingonberry jam and swirl as well
8. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 180°C, serve still warm.

autumn look #24

The last look for today plays with different contrasts. There is for once the strong color contrast of a silvery grey and bright pink, but also the mix of casual and elegant elements. The elegant layer skirt by Prabal Gurung is used here for a day look and combined with a casual top with a strong graphic pattern. The accessories stay in the silvery theme and the necklace adds a little edge to the composition.

The second look is indeed a foxy combination with the tweed top from Dolce & Gabbana's fairytale collection. I have combined it here with a pair of cool leather leggings and an elegant coat. The red accessories add some bright color splashes to every autumn day.

autumn look #22

Another autumn day and another series of autumn inspirations for you. The first look is based on a beautiful dress in pastel shades by Burberry Prorsum. For the right boho flair I have chosen a brown jacket by Stella Jean. Matching shoes and a bag in suede with fringes emphasize the playfulness of the look.

Laurents Chéhère's Flying Houses

French photographer Laurent Chéhère likes to explore cities, suburbs and countries as much as exploring the different fields of photography. With "Flying Houses" he has created fantastical, aerial still lives of mundane residences seemingly escaping from their suburban boredom. By letting them fly, Chéhère emphasizes the beauty of each individual house and gives it the chance to stand out of the mass and tell their story, no matter if fictive or real.
Stuffed with animals, flipped inside out or set a flame, the houses in Chéhère's digitally altered photographs seem to capture an entire fairy tale. The viewer is tasked not only to imagine how the house came to be airborne, but also where it's heading and who's living inside.

The surreal series was inspired by the houses of Paris' poorer neighborhoods as well as the aesthetics of movies like "The Red Balloon" by Albert Lamorisse and "Howl's Moving Castle" by Hayao Miyazaki channeling the ethereal visions of the filmmakers.

One of my favorite pictures is the "Circus", inspired by a circus at the polluted highway in the North of Paris. A dwarf dressed as a clown is trying to light a cigarette on the snowy roof. The picture in its composition is also a tribute to Fellini's movie "La Strada" and the angel in Wim Wender's movie "The Wings of desire".

autumn look #21

The last look for today is more subtle in the color choices with its silvery blue theme. Based on an embellished brocade skirt by Miu Miu, it plays with interesting material mixes. With the choice of accessories I stayed within the silver theme and added a bag by Dries van Noten as a statement piece to emphasize the material play.

autumn look #20

Another strong graphic can be found in the skirt by Carven which I have chosen for the second look. I have combined it here with an asymmetric knit top by Isa Arfen which has an interesting wrap detail and an amazing autumn red. The red can be also found again in the accessories and sets a strong color statement to brighten up every grey autumn day.
